Belinda Moss is the THE makeup artist everyone wants. For over 20 years she has been the number one choice for A-list celebrities, musical superstars and management types. Belinda is based in the New York City, Nashville Tennessee and Tampa Florida areas.
There where some serious Queens dashing around backstage at Hip Hop Honors.
Some of the outfits were …. kind of like …. under wear :D
It was NUTS!!!
Everything was total last minute. The extraordinary choreographer Fatima Robinson called me Sunday night around 10pm asking for 10 long ponytails for her dancers… BTW the show is the next day Monday, with 3 quick changes & that was just ONE act!!
My 17 assistants & myself KILLED IT!!
We had hair flying, wigs drying, lashes glued tight & just went with the flow!
It was a beautiful summer weekend when I headed up Westport Country Playhouse to do Michael Urei for his play "Buyers & Cellars"..
What a funny play & Michael really makes a one man show very interesting all the way until the end.
When Michael walked into the dressing room he said "I know you"… I said me too but couldn't figure out where. I was never on the set of Ugly Betty…then I went ASPEN TRAILBLAZERS!
There was a huge blizzard in NYC & he called home & his cat sitter was having a party & drinking all his booze. We both just cracked up. I had done his makeup for a huge party for Logo in Aspen Colorado & now we meet again in Connecticut,
OMG he is so adorable & that HAIR!!!! His hair is to dye for :D
Here we are again, another year at the beautiful St. John of the Divine in New York City.
This year they honored Billie Jean King & Harvey Fierstein for their years of support among the gay community.
The mayor of Orlando was also honored. Everyone bowed their heads for a moment of silence for the victims that were brutally murdered at Pulse night club.
There were tears and also many laughs.
Joel Grey is the sweetest thing, surrounded by all these drag queens backstage he asked me if I could make him look that good :D
Ahhh The Tony Awards..my favorite award show of the year!
This is year was a bit crazier as it was held at the Beacon Theather. No backstage area and all the celebrities had to be held in the Green room across the ally at the Beacon Hotel.
This is my 18th year as Department Head and I couldn't be any prouder.
I have the best team and they all are on such good behavior and just honored to be there.
This year the biggest stars show up. Barbara Streisand presented to for BEST play which was Hamilton! Oprah won for best Musical Revival so of course she was there to accept the award.
Hamilton swept the Tonys this year with 11 wins!
Meg Ryan came in for touch ups and we helped her with her hair & makeup. Marlee Matlin stayed with us for quite some time as we fussed over her & even fixed her gown.
Common even hung out for awhile & was as charming as ever.
Our director Glenn Weiss hit another one out of the park! He truly is the best director on the planet.
I LOVE this show & hope to continue as long as they run :)
Going back to Vegas to work with Penn & Teller on their TV show on the CW network "Fool Us" was like coming home to my Vegas family.
Of course we are all sworn to secrecy as to all the happenings going on backstage . So cool to see how the magicians do their magic.
Doves flying, snakes showing up, people sawed in half, puppies disappearing .. It's Vegas :)
The magicians must try to fool Penn & Teller… well out of 20 only 4 people fooled them!
They are the KINGS of all magicians since they have been together for 40 years!!!!
It was a great 2 weeks & I hope this job goes on forever.
We had a new host Alyson Hannigan from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "How I Met Your Mother". She was an AWESOME host. It was truly a pleasure to work with her.
Vegas is a crazy place but if you know the right people it can be magical.
I was fortunate enough to be able to work on his play the final week it was on Broadway in NYC.
This of course is not a "feel good" play but the acting was outstanding.
With Ed Harris as the lead how could it have not been spectacular ?
Taissa Farmiga from "American Horror" was one of the leads as well. She took the play to a whole new level. Poor thing on the last day she got a cold. She said her character took so much out of her. You can totally see that she put her whole heart and soul into it.
The Cast:
Taissa Farmiga, Ed harris, Amy Madigan, Larry Pine, Rich Sommer, Paul Sparks, Nat Wolff
I love Broadway and everything about it. You can shut off your brain and for 2 hours be taken away by the play.
Well, what can I say about Sting? A genius doesn't even cover it.
He has enlighten the world with Transcendental Mediation and tries to save he rainforest and oh yeah, he's a total ROCKSTAR!
Working with Sting is like you get to have the perfect day of music and love. He can make anyone feel like they are the only person in the room. Woman and men are true fans.
I've done many charity events with Sting as well, from Carnage Hall, Lincoln Center, The Met, at his home for interviews and every time he is as gracious as the next.
When Logo called to ask if I would do Margaret Cho's hair & make-up I was thrilled!!!!
Then they said it was going to be in Aspen, Colorado during Gay Ski Week and I was even more excited. OMG Drag Queens do the BEST make-up. Any make-up artist can learn from them. Of course I was staying at the Limelight and all "The Girls" were at my hotel. The outfits were AMAZING!
I also got to work with Michael Urie, Nia Vardalos and Nico Tortorella.
Margaret Cho was a joy to work with. I showed up the first day with my full kit and she had shaved her head….so I said we need to get you some fabulous hats!!!!! LOVE her!
Nick Cannon has really come along way with the Halo Awards.
This show puts the spot light on amazing kids and how they help the world be a better place.
Nickelodeon is a wonderful stage for these up and coming kids and this show honors the outstanding children that really make a difference to make the world and peoples lives change for the good.
What a cool guy Michael Symon is!!! He is the Iron Chef from the Food Network and the star of “The Chew”. Michael was doing a red carpet event last week and the people representing him gave me a call. He is amazing…he has many restaurants, a new book, a bull dog named Ozzy and not enough hours in the day. What a breeze to work with such a great talent. Did I mention he drinks 13 cups of coffee a day. Love him.
Of course America’s Got Talent is a 3 ring circus and this year did not disappoint. It was really like a carnival, high wire acts, fire swallowing, magicians, a dragon… a bit of a freak show which made it even more interesting. This will be the last year AGT will be in New York as Howard Stern wanted way too much money to come back for season 11. Being that Radio City Music Hall is the most expensive venue in the world (One Million a day) they will take it back to L.A. or another venue. I have a feeling that I will see my AGT family again.
What a great show on a beautiful day at The US Open. This show is always dear to my heart and since I’ve been doing it for 10 years it is even more special. It’s all about empowering kids to do better and gives not so fortunate children a nice shot at becoming a good tennis player. The bands this year were awesome American Authors Natalie LaRose Jacob Whitesides and many others got even the adults up on their feet. This show is a win win for everyone.
What a honor to be a part of this historical experience. The Pope was as down to earth as any regular person…but much kinder. Instead of fancy dinners he chose to visit the homeless shelters and the prisons to give these people hope. He is truly a man of God. I’m not Catholic but you can feel the goodness and the light that shines all around him. We need more people like him on the planet.
I was thrilled when my friend Jasen Kaplan asked me to do 16 models all wearing Michael Strahan’s new suits. Fashion is a whole different monster but this was a BLAST! Jasen and Caroline are so much fun it really didn’t seem like work at all and HELLO they were all gorgeous models. Love a gig with no stress and lots of laughs and the talent is easy on the eyes. Here is a picture of us backstage goofing off .
